Luton Town set to step up search for Jones’ replacement

Sky Bet League One club Luton Town are expected to step up their search for a new manager next week according to reports by Luton Today.

The Hatters’ former boss Nathan Jones opted to leave the club 10 days ago in favour of a move to Sky Bet Championship club Stoke City.

Luton Town legend Mick Harford has taken interim charge of first team affairs at Kenilworth Road and it has now been reported that the club will look to begin to speak to potential candidates regarding their managerial vacancy early next week.

Under former boss Jones, Luton secured promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season, finishing the campaign in second place, five points behind champions Accrington Stanley. Jones won an impressive 51.2% of his 170 matches in charge of The Hatters during a three-year stay at the Bedfordshire club.

Luton Town’s rise back up the English footballing pyramid has continued again this season. The Hatters have taken well to life in Sky Bet League One and the club currently occupy the second automatic promotion position.

It is thought that Luton Town have not yet spoken with any potential applicants about their managerial vacancy and will aim to draft a shortlist in the coming week with a view to then conducting interviews. The club could turn to an experienced figure in the English Football League to lead their promotion charge as they look to secure a return to the Sky Bet Championship after 12 years away.
