Punchestown Festival day 4 (Friday): horse racing tips from Ed Quigley

Ted's Punchestown Festival tips for Friday, May 3.

Punchestown 4.15 - Arctic Bresil each way

As an each-way play, I like the claims of the Henry De Bromhead trained ARCTIC BRESIL.

It would be fair to say that the 7-year-old hasn't quite lived up to the early potential he displayed after bolting up on Hurdling debut at Cork, but is still relatively lightly-raced and could easily get involved in the business end of proceedings from an each-way perspective.

He was inconvenienced by a messy start in the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival, where he had to make up a lot of ground from the back. On the balance of his form, a mark of 130 doesn't look beyond him, and he can get in the mix here.

Rachael Blackmore takes the ride on the gelding who won't mind any rain that falls, and is capable of shedding the maiden tag over fences on the fifth time of asking.

Punchestown 4.50 - Brides Hill

Providing the majority of the rain stays away from Punchestown, then I wouldn't be surprised if the Gavin Cromwell team can celebrate more success here with their classy Mare, BRIDES HILL.

The 7-year-old has become a win machine in recent months, and has notched up three wins on the spin over fences.

She was last seen when flying around Huntingdon in impressive style, to absolutely bolt up against her own sex in a Listed event, but then was forced to miss her engagement at the Cheltenham Festival when the ground became too soft.

She is a strong traveller and a slick jumper and could have too much for main rival Allegorie De Vassy who is smart on her day, but comes with plenty of risks attached and is very happy on deep ground.

I like the chances here of Brides Hill on some spring ground, and she could be tough to beat with Sean Flanagan in the saddle.

Punchestown 7.05 - Lark In The Mornin

LARK IN THE MORNIN was very impressive when jumping a travelling supremely well to land the Boodles Handicap Hurdle at this year's Cheltenham Festival, and can follow in Novice Hurdle company for the Joseph O'Brien and J J Slevin team.

Off a mark of 122, he was evidently well treated for that assignment, and can take another step forwards here. This doesn't look the deepest of races on paper, and with natural progression expected, this 4-year-old can put in a bold show making the most of his weight-for-age allowance.

If rain does arrive, that won't be an issue, and he is the one to beat in my book.
