Premier League relegation battle: Will Nottingham Forest, Luton or Burnley stay up?

Nuno Espirito Santo insisted Nottingham Forest are not yet safe after claiming a vital win at Sheffield United in the battle for Premier League survival.

A 3-1 victory at Bramall Lane means that with two games remaining, Forest are three points clear of Luton in 18th, while also having a much better goal difference.

"It is not over. We made a good step but it is not over," Nuno told BBC Match of the Day.

"It is in our hands and we cannot lose that. We decide our own destiny."

With Sheffield United already down, the battle at the bottom is now between Forest, Luton and Burnley, with two of the three being relegated.

Luton missed a chance to climb out of the drop zone as they drew 1-1 with Everton on Friday, with their chances of relegation rising from 78% to almost 86% as a result.

That is now up to 95% following Forest's win, with Nuno's side given a 92.7% chance of staying up, according to Opta. Burnley are given just a 2.3% chance of avoiding the drop.

Nottingham Forest: BBC Sport's Simon Stone explains the impact of points deduction

While Forest's four-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) has been applied, they have appealed against the decision. That appeal was set to be heard on Wednesday, 24 April.

The hearing was expected to be wrapped up within a day, but Forest will have to wait to discover if they are successful - with the timeframe of the outcome unclear.

They are expected to discover their fate before the final day of the season.
