Owen Hargreaves says ‘amazing’ Arsenal player ‘looked tired’ vs Aston Villa

Owen Hargreaves has named the Arsenal player who was tired against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium and has made an interesting comparison with Manchester City.

Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Villans scored two late goals in North London. The Gunners failed to break down a strong and resolute Villa defence.

In contrast, Manchester City eased past Luton Town 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side, who have won the league title for the past three seasons, are now two points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool at the top of the table.

Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves has noted that the Citizens have a better squad than Arsenal and has pointed out the players they had on the bench against Luton.

The pundit has also said that Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice looked tired against Villa, suggesting that manager Mikel Arteta needs to be able to rotate his key players.

Rice has scored six goals and given seven assists in 44 matches in all competitions for Arsenal this season.

Owen Hargreaves makes an observation on Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice

Hargreaves said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show: “When you have a bench of Rodri, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, they are all guys watching. Doku played an amazing game.

“Look at Arsenal. They have been amazing, but I don’t think they have enough depth over a 38-game season to compete with City.

“And, in these crucial moments, you need to rotate players. I thought Declan Rice has been amazing this season. He looked tired yesterday against a really good Villa midfielder.”

Arsenal fans have to keep believing

We know that Manchester City have the strongest squad in the Premier League. They have won the league title for the last three seasons and know how to get the job done.

Arsenal fans have to keep believing in the team. Yes, the Gunners failed to sustain their title challenge until the final weeks of last season, and, yes, they lost to Aston Villa this past weekend, but they can still recover and go on a winning run.
